Le Quang Ha’s work can currently be viewed at the ongoing 2019 Singapore Biennale: Every Step in the Right Direction (22 November 2019 – 22 March 2020). His mixed media installation Gilded Age is exhibited at the prestigious National Gallery, and includes a number of paintings, sculptures, and videos. Ha is one of two artists representing Vietnam at the biennale, along with Ngoc Nau.
As co-curator Andrea Fam writes:
Inspired by Mark Twain and Charles Dudley Warner’s 1873 satirical novel about greed and corruption, Le’s installation takes off from his first presentation in his Hanoi home-studio, where amidst a restrictive environment, the artist was unable to present the exhibition anywhere else. An array of sculptures and paintings bearing titles such as Animals Farm and Dear Leader greets the visitor, in a presentation that poses questions about power and control, leadership and authority.
