Ha Tri Hieu is one of the Gang of Five artists, considered the pioneers of contemporary art in Vietnam, who entered the international art scene in the mid 90’s as artists, freed from government requirements to do propaganda works of art, who began to paint about their hopes, dreams, spiritual life and the possibility of a life in peace for the first time in hundreds of years.
Hieu is an artist whose works spring from the heart of an eternal child. Internationally recognized for his pastoral poetic works, his paintings are quintessentially Vietnamese in their depiction of the countryside and simple heart felt naïve encounters with life. The work mirrors the life of the man, Hieu is a man of honest realities.
