Contemporary Vietnamese artist Nguyen Lam sees his art as a continuum, acting as bridge between then and now. Starting off with traditional lacquer style figurative paintings, Nguyen Lam went on to explore abstraction. Inspired by the energy and purity of calligraphy, he began to create abstract oils that retained strokes of black, all while introducing complex colours and textures.
