« Upstream – Half a Century of Painting » by artist Dào Minh Tri
Artist Dào Minh Tri’s exhibition titled « Upstream – Half a Century of Painting » takes place from March 22 to 28 at the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association. There are presented 60 works dating back 50 years made of gouache, oil paint and lacquer. These are the unpublished creations of the painter.
Dào Minh Tri, born in 1950, graduated from Vietnam University of Fine Arts in 1976. After reunification, he taught at Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts and served as Deputy Secretary General of the Fine Arts Association of Ho Chi Minh City.
Dào Minh Tri is renowned for his creative painting and many of his gouache works show an interest in international modern art (P. Picasso, H. Matisse, M. Chagall, J. Miró). His creations also reveal the realization that individual spiritual life with a unique identity is the most important factor in artistic creation.
In half a century of artistic activities, the painter has left his mark through continuous individual and collective art exhibitions in Vietnam and abroad. His lacquer paintings show his own artistic language based on aesthetic techniques and traditional culture. His works are kept in many national and international collections.
