Born in 1950 in an artist family, Duong Dinh Sang begins the painting at a very young age. He Died of an heart attack on the 18 november 2005.
His paintings were showed for the first time in 1971 in Hue, Vietnam. An other exhibition in duet with Dr Dinh Cuong followed in 1974. The year after, he became a teacher in Fine Arts College of Hue. In addition of being a teacher, he participated to several activities for the promotion of vietnamese Art. After 1975, being a member of the Fine Arts Association of Hue, he brang several contributions to the Art of Hue and participated to many national and international exhibitions:
– two national exhibition in 1976 and 1980;
– a group exbihition with Hoang Dang Nhuan, Buu in Hue (1982);
– a solo exhibition in a Gallery in Dong Khoi Street, HCMC;
– exhibition in Singapur (1992) and Paris, France (1993);
– in 1994, exhibition with the artist Thyge Thomasen in Ho Chi Minh-Ville;
– From 1994 to 1998, mondial exhibition in london (UK), exhibition with Thyge Thomasen in Hong Kong, exhibiton in the gallery Motmatre, Virginia – USA;
His paintings were part of many private collection in Vietnam and abroad. During the exhibition in Virginia (USA), the artist Dinh Cuong comment the Sang’s painting : » It has a silver color of the typical smog in Hue, caracterized by a world of fantasy et metaphores such as the link between space and matter. His painting is full of hieroglyphic symbols, totems. I realized that in each of his caracter, there are happiness and suffering, in a temple ambience. Sang’s painting is pure, intense, poetic and honnest.
