The artist Nguyen Quan is born in Vinh Phu in 1948.
He is a renowned art critic in Asia, Professor at the Fine Arts Academy of Hanoi between 1978 and 1984 and he is chief editor of the Fine Arts journal from 1986 to 1989. He has participated in numerous exhibitions in his country as well as in Paris, Geneva, Hong Kong, Singapore and Miami. He has also exposed a lot of his work in the H&S gallery in Brussels in 1997 and 1998.
Nguyen Quan can be considered as one of the major artist of his generation as much for the abundance and originality of his ever evolving work than for his character, intelligence and culture. Needless to say for those who know him that he has developed an art of hospitality of his own and to be at his house is like being at home.
It’s also worth mentioning that his sculptures are remarkable.
A great book was dedicated to him written by Phan Cam Thuong and Tran Hau Tuan, Editions “Fine Arts Publishing House 1997”.
Nguyen Quan is constantly trying to represent his imagination and his visions of the world with a deep despair of incompleteness.
After the H&S contest, he followed his way, a quest for a fantasy world where dreams rub its fantasy reality.
Nguyen Quan is a brilliant artist whose works are highly sought by collectors.
